Looking for an opportunity to boost your CV?
Just started thinking about your career path and like to share your thoughts with others?
Want to tell the world about your personal experiences of job hunting?
We are now recruiting for a brand new team of student bloggers to be regular contributors to our undergraduate blog next academic year. We’re on the hunt for current University of Manchester undergrads (any year, any subject) who are budding journalists, creative writers or just want the opportunity to write regularly for fun!
We’re looking for reliable, highly motivated students with something to say, an engaging style, a willingness to tell others their experiences, and a flexible attitude. You might write about your experiences of trying to secure a graduate job or internship, or just figuring out what you want do for a career. Or you might have a completely different idea of how you’d like to contribute – we’re very open to your ideas! You should be able to commit to writing at least one blog per month between October and June and come to the Careers Service for two or three short meetings during the year to share ideas.
If you’re interested, we’d like you to email us with a short blog post of between 300-500 words covering anything whatsoever careers related. We’d like to see your flair for writing, how you engage your audience and the sort of ideas you can come up with. We’d also ask that you include in your email, in no more than 200 words, why you would like to be a student blogger for us. No experience is necessary, but if you already have experience of blogging and social media, make sure you tell us about it!
You never know, blogging may even lead to a ‘real’ job – one of our previous student bloggers was even offered an interview by a telecoms recruiter via a comment on his blog post! Take a look at: https://manchesterundergradcareers.wordpress.com/2009/10/16/the-laymans-guide-to-careers.
This is a voluntary role, so unfortunately we can’t pay our writers. However, we will be running a competition every month for the ‘best’ blog post to give you the chance to win £10 Amazon voucher – not bad for doing something you enjoy and that will look great on your CV!
Please send your application or any further questions to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include your name, email address, student ID number and what year of your course you’ll be in this autumn. The deadline for your application is 10th October 2011, but we’d love to hear from you earlier.
Look forward to reading your blog posts!
